Terms of service

Last updated 2 Nov 2026

Firmware Hero is a wiki of community-led projects for hardware you own, run by Ururu LLC (“we”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

What Firmware Hero is

We list devices and the projects people make for them: custom firmware, mods, tools and the like. We link to each project's own site or repository. We never host firmware or other project files, and we don't make, test or endorse the projects.

Use projects at your own risk

Changing your device's software can void its warranty or leave it unusable. You decide whether to use a project, and you're responsible for what happens to your device. Read the Risks page before you start.

Your account

  • You log in with GitHub, Google or Discord. Keep that account secure; what happens under your login is on you.
  • You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 13.
  • Your handle is public. Don't pick one that impersonates someone, or Firmware Hero itself.
  • One person, one account. Don't make extra accounts to vote more or to get around a ban.

Claiming a project

You may claim only a project you own on GitHub, or whose organisation you administer; GitHub confirms it when you claim. Once claimed, you edit your project's page and support links. If you lose control of the repository, the claim can be taken back.

What you can't do

  • Spam, advertise, or post links for the sake of links.
  • Fake votes, “Did it work?” answers or compatibility reports, or ask others to. Report what happened on your own device.
  • Post or link to pirated firmware, license keys, or paid software shared without permission.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post hateful content.
  • Give advice you know is unsafe, or present a guess as tested.
  • Post other people's personal information.
  • Scrape the site in a way that slows it down, probe its security, or get around its limits.
  • Break the law, or help someone else break it.

What you contribute

Device and project information you add or edit (summaries, specs, model codes, firmware versions, compatibility rows and the text of project pages) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0, like Wikipedia. Anyone can reuse it, including through any public export of the wiki, as long as they credit Firmware Hero's contributors and share their changes the same way. Every edit is kept with its author, so it can be credited and undone.

Posts, replies and wishes stay yours. By posting them, you let us show, store, copy and distribute them on Firmware Hero and in its notifications, and keep them up after you delete your account, without your name.

Only contribute what you have the right to share. Text and images from projects' repositories belong to their authors and are shown with credit and a link.

Moderation

Moderators may edit or remove content and limit or ban accounts that break these terms or the house rules. Everything moderators do on a device is listed in its public moderation log. If you think a moderator got it wrong, write to legal@firmwarehero.com.

Ending your account

You can stop using Firmware Hero at any time, and ask us to delete your account at legal@firmwarehero.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, especially for spam, fake votes, piracy or abuse.

If something on Firmware Hero infringes your copyright, follow our DMCA policy.

No warranty

Firmware Hero is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We try to keep it accurate, but information on the site can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and links can go to sites we don't control.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Ururu LLC isn't liable for damage to your devices, lost data, voided warranties or any indirect or consequential loss from using Firmware Hero or the projects it links to. Where the law doesn't allow these limits, they apply as far as it does.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and we'll give notice on the site before a change that matters takes effect. Using the site after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where you live may give you rights these terms can't take away.
