Firmware Hero collects as little as it needs to run a wiki you can log in to. We don't sell your data, show ads or track you across other sites. Ururu LLC is responsible for it, and you can reach us at legal@firmwarehero.com.

Reading without an account

You can read everything without logging in. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (your IP address, the page and your browser's user agent) for security and to fix problems. We don't use analytics or tracking cookies.

When you log in

You log in with GitHub, Google or Discord. From that service we get, and keep with your account:

  • your email address, name and profile picture, as the service shares them;
  • an identifier for your account there, so you can log in again;
  • for GitHub, your username, which shows when you claim a project.

We never see your password for those services.

What you add

  • Your handle: public, on your profile and next to what you post.
  • Devices you own, with their firmware version and the project you run, if you say so. These show as flair on your posts.
  • What you follow: private to you.
  • Votes and “Did it work?” answers: counted in public totals; your own votes are private.
  • Posts, replies, wishes and edits to device and project pages: public, with your handle. Edits are kept in each page's history so they can be credited and undone.
  • Reports you make about posts: seen only by you and moderators, never shown to the person you reported.
  • Claims: when you claim a project, we ask GitHub whether you own the repository or administer its organisation, and keep the answer.

Cookies

We set only the cookies that keep you logged in. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to opt out of. If that changes, this page will say so first.

Email

Firmware Hero doesn't send email yet. When we add alerts or a digest, they'll be opt-in, and every message will have a link to stop them.

Who processes it

  • Supabase stores the database, logins and uploaded photos.
  • Vercel hosts the site and keeps its server logs.
  • GitHub, Google and Discord handle logging in, under their own privacy policies.

They process data for us under their terms and may store it outside your country, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and what you've added until you delete it. Server logs are kept for a short time by our hosting provider. When you delete your account, your posts, replies and edits stay, so threads and page histories still make sense, but your name and handle come off them.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account; write to legal@firmwarehero.com from the email on your account. We'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you these rights and the right to complain to your data protection authority; we rely on running the service you asked for, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it safe, to process your data. If you're in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights; we don't sell or share personal information as it defines those terms.

Children

Firmware Hero isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We'll update this page before we change what we collect, and the date at the top says when it last changed.
