Lumen 1.1.4 adds editing apps on the home screen, wallpaper dimming options, and install and update from the Homebrew Channel. The 1.1 highlights are in the 1.1 notes.
New
- Edit apps on the home screen: hold OK on an app for Move, Uninstall App (a second OK confirms; never offered for Lumen, LG's own apps or the Homebrew Channel), Remove and Add to a folder. A lifted app moves along its row with Left and Right and a whole row with Up and Down. The remote's 1 to 6 open the first six apps on the glass bar.
- Dimming: Settings > Wallpaper > Dim the wallpaper is Off, At night or Always, and Settings > Home Screen > Dim when the dock is hidden darkens the screen while the dock is away.
- App Store (LG's "Apps") can be added to the home screen.
- Homebrew Channel: add
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ammar027/lumen-webos/hbc-repo/stable/apps.jsonin the Channel's settings to install Lumen and get updates from the TV. This is new and runs for the first time with this release. - Optional TV tools in the repository: open Lumen as soon as the TV wakes (including Wake-on-LAN), and clear LG's update banner.
Fixed
- Close all in Recent Apps no longer closes Lumen.
- The hold-OK and time-pill menus are dimmed so the text reads on a bright wallpaper.
Install: download com.ammar027.lumen_1.1.4_all.ipk below and follow the README. Your settings stay when you update. Tested on an LG 65UQ8040PSB (webOS 22).
Thanks to Sam Renfrew, whose fork (MIT) the dimming, the App Store tile, the uninstall entry, the number keys, the wake tool and the Homebrew Channel setup come from.

Getting started
From the project's README ("Easy install: download the .ipk"):
Don't want to build anything? Download com.ammar027.lumen1.1.4all.ipk from the latest release and install it on your TV:
- With a mouse and no command line: open Dev Manager Desktop, add your TV, go to Apps and drop the .ipk onto the window.
- Or with the webOS CLI: npx -p @webos-tools/cli ares-install --device lgtv com.ammar027.lumen1.1.4all.ipk.
The release build leaves out third-party app logos and the default wallpapers are public-domain paintings; apps without an icon get a plain tile. Optional: see Native Home selection for supported firmware, required metadata, and restoration steps. The v1.0.9 package does not contain the required Home category. The existing redirect scripts are under tools/tv/.
Risk and recovery
- Brick risk
- Low
- Requires opening the device
- No
From the project's README ("Install on the TV"):
ares-setup-device # add your TV as "lgtv" (developer mode on, or rooted) npx -p @webos-tools/cli ares-install --device lgtv build/.ipk
For native Home selection, follow this procedure. Installation alone does not change the default Home app.
For the existing redirect method, copy tools/tv/watch.sh to /var/lib/homehook/ and tools/tv/60-homehook to /var/lib/webosbrew/init.d/ on the TV. To undo it, delete the hook file and stop watch.sh.
