Getting started

From the project's README ("Install"):

You need Python 3.12 or newer and LLVM, which provides llvm-mc. The build itself needs no pip packages; the emulation tests need unicorn.

git clone --recursive https://github.com/parodiniccolo/gr3-12-boxes cd gr3-12-boxes brew install llvm # macOS; elsewhere any LLVM with llvm-mc (set LLVMBIN if not on PATH) python3 -m venv .venv && .venv/bin/pip install unicorn==2.1.4 # only for the tests

If you cloned without --recursive, run git submodule update --init.

From the project's README ("Rollback and data safety"):

To go back, reflash the stock or v16 fwdc239b.bin the same way. BOX1-6 and all stock settings files (APData00-APData11) keep their format and contents. Boxes 7-12 live in separate files on the camera's internal settings drive: APBox07.bin-APBox12.bin and APBoxEx.bin, the last one holding names and assignments, about 17 KB in all. Stock firmware never opens these files. Stock firmware only ever sees box numbers 1-6. A U position set to BOX7-12 keeps its previous stock value underneath, so after a rollback it recalls that old box, or nothing if it was unassigned. If a box 7-12 was loaded when you rolled back, stock shows a 1-6 box as loaded. Turning the dial once sorts it out. Stock never writes current settings into a box by itself, only on an explicit Save Settings. Clear User Data in the factory menu deletes the stock files only. Boxes 7-12 survive it.
