Glass Home now uses the authentic artwork from the apps installed on your TV. The hand-drawn approximations have been removed.
Setup copies each app's official PNG icon locally, preferring the larger image and preserving its original colours and background. The dashboard loads these small local files without an image service or runtime downloads. A missing icon uses plain text. Re-run setup after a streaming app changes its artwork.
Install or update
Download LGGlassUI-v1.3.2-setup.zip, extract it and run node setup.cjs. Requires Node.js 22+, OpenSSH and an already rooted webOSbrew TV. Use the setup ZIP to collect app artwork; the standalone public IPK contains no third-party icon files.
Verification
- The extracted setup ZIP updated the test LG CX and copied all ten icons byte-for-byte from the installed applications.
- All ten images rendered; navigation and missing-image fallback were exercised on the TV.
- Existing photographs, greeting, screensaver choice and startup configuration were preserved.
- 36 automated tests pass, including path confinement, image bounds, fallback and stale-icon handling.
- Packaging excludes local icon assets. Public downloads contain no household configuration or credentials.
Original service names and marks remain the property of their respective owners. LGGlassUI is independent of LG and the streaming services.

Getting started
From the project's README ("Install on your TV"):
Full Home-button and startup integration requires a rooted TV with webOSbrew. This repository does not root your television or include a universal root exploit.
- Download and extract LGGlassUI-v1.3.2-setup.zip from the latest release.
- Open a terminal in the extracted folder and run node setup.cjs.
- Enter your TV address, SSH port/key and optional greeting names.
Setup installs the dashboard and photo service, then opens Glass Home. You need Node.js 22+, OpenSSH and a working root SSH key. No Git, npm install or LG developer CLI required. Each installation gets its own private photo key.
Once the dashboard works on your TV, enable Home-button and startup replacement using the installation guide. Original LG Home remains available. The release includes a standalone public IPK and SHA-256 checksums too.

Risk and recovery
- Brick risk
- Medium
- Reversible
- Yes
- Requires opening the device
- No
From the project's README ("Built to be recoverable"):
Open Settings → Open LG Home whenever you need the original interface. A separate SSH recovery command disables the custom integration even if the dashboard fails to load.
Read the recovery guide →
The photo API requires a private access key, validates and decodes uploaded JPEGs, bounds concurrent uploads, and commits collection changes atomically. It has no shell-execution endpoint. See architecture and security boundaries.
