0.1.0-preview — 28 October 2026

First public preview of FM1 SynthDef, an embedded SuperCollider SynthDef runtime for the M-VAVE FM-1.

Includes two-voice playback, eight synth slots, one permanent master effect, live knobs, octave controls, syntax-coloured on-device source, stereo meters, a Mac browser editor, USB slot management and five example patches. The compatibility profile implements 53 UGen types with explicit operator/rate limits.

The complete archive includes the accepted FM-1_1200 firmware, source, pinned platform/BSP snapshots, minimal SDK packaging data, licences, examples and a checksum manifest. The firmware is the same accepted device build; release preparation does not reflash a connected instrument or prepopulate its slots.

This is experimental: arbitrary graphs may exceed realtime capacity despite passing import validation. Only the documented Mac setup and supplied patches have hardware acceptance evidence. Final-build power-cycle persistence and recovery remain unverified. See QUICKSTART, COMPATIBILITY and VERIFICATION before use.

Getting started

From the project's README ("Start here"):

Download the complete 0.1.0-preview archive from the repository's Releases page. It contains source, pinned platform sources, the firmware, example patches, licences and checksums. A Git clone also contains everything except the generated release firmware and SDK/compiler downloads.

  1. Follow Mac setup and installation.
  2. Try the included patches and controls.
  3. Read the compatibility and resource limits before importing other patches.
  4. For development, use building and verification.

Three additional Gendy examples use knobs 1–4 for amplitude movement, duration movement, active breakpoints and cutoff. They are provided as .scd, .scsyndef and .fmslot files alongside the other examples; importing them is optional and does not alter the example bank.

Formant and Formlet examples are also supplied with four live knob controls, compiled graphs and importable .fmslot files.

Try the just-intonation Formant patch: each keyboard semitone advances one scale degree. Knobs control scale transposition, formant, attack and release. Its compiled graph and importable .fmslot are supplied alongside the source.
