Getting started
From the project's README ("Install"):
git clone https://github.com/WafflingNinja/aurora-webos cd aurora-webos python makeaurora.py 192.168.1.50
Use your TV's IP address. Every step prints PASS or FAIL. When it finishes, Aurora opens, and the Home button should open it from then on.
Other commands:
python makeaurora.py 192.168.1.50 --refresh # after installing or removing apps python makeaurora.py 192.168.1.50 --revert # undo everything python makeaurora.py --build-only # only build aurora.ipk, no TV needed
Risk and recovery
- Brick risk
- Medium
- Reversible
- Yes
- Requires opening the device
- No
From the project's README ("Troubleshooting"):
Home still shows LG's screen. The stock Home is still running. Over telnet: kill $(pidof com.webos.app.home), then press Home. The boot hook does this about 20 seconds after every boot.
Letters instead of icons, or apps missing. Run --refresh. New apps do not show up until the next boot or --refresh, because Aurora cannot list them itself.
Home is broken. Run --revert. If you cannot connect, delete /var/lib/webosbrew/init.d/70-aurora-home and reboot. The bind mount does not survive a reboot without that hook.
